ContinuousDescriptionThe Dean of Academic Affairs provides
strategic leadership for academic programs, fostering excellence
and student success. Responsibilities include faculty/staff
management, budget oversight, curriculum development, and strategic
enrollment initiatives. The Dean ensures alignment with the
College's mission and promotes a collaborative academic
environment.The State College of Florida is hiring two Deans of
Academic Affairs. One position will oversee departments within the
Division of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. The other
position will oversee departments within the Division of Math,
Science, Technology and Business.Essential Duties and
ResponsibilitiesThe following listing of essential job duties

- Fosters a collaborative, interdisciplinary academic environment
supportive of the College mission, vision and values.
- Facilitates the resolution of student, faculty, and staff
issues related to academics within the division.
- Understanding and application of emotional intelligence and
situational awareness.
- Understanding and knowledge of collective bargaining agreements
and faculty union relations.
- Develops goals and objectives for the division in support of
the College's goals and strategic plan.
- Fosters an environment of collaboration and collegiality within
the division and across the College.
- Serves to enhance communication between various College offices
as it relates to division and College operations and
interests.
- Works collaboratively with all divisions of the College
including the Foundation.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with local K-12
schools, colleges and universities, businesses, and community-based
organizations to promote and benefit enrollment, academic
programming, and academic readiness.
- Actively participates in strategic planning and accreditation
related initiatives.
- Actively participates in state-wide committees and workgroups
as needed.
- Represents the College externally.
- Oversees all academic programming within the division including
scheduling and staffing to ensure programs are delivered across the
College in an efficient, effective, and consistent manner.
- Collaborates with all appropriate personnel to develop and
implement strategic enrollment management initiatives and assume
shared responsibility for meeting or exceeding performance targets
for student recruitment, enrollment, completion, and transfer or
job placement.
- Actively participates in the production of academic affairs
standard operating procedures, operations manuals, and
handbooks.
- Monitors and reports on student enrollment, persistence,
retention, completion and other success metrics for the programs
and courses within the division and leads continuous improvement
efforts.
- Recommends for hire, supervises, mentors, and evaluates faculty
and staff, including department chairs and program directors within
the division.
- Develops, implements and evaluates courses, programs, distance
learning offerings, and related curricular matters, in cooperation
with faculty and other College staff as appropriate for relevancy,
rigor, sequencing, and efficacy.
- Develops, implements, and assesses programs within the division
and reports on their effectiveness. Makes recommendations for new
program development and the sunsetting of existing programs.
- Oversees the development of two-year course schedules that
align with institutional initiatives.
- Approves and monitors faculty teaching loads and payroll
authorizations within the division.
- Fosters an environment of teaching excellence and the use of
learner-centered instructional strategies.
- Prepares and administers the division budget.
- Performs other duties as assigned.Job QualificationsThe
requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,

- Education/Experience: Master's degree from a regionally
accredited postsecondary institution; doctorate preferred.
Postsecondary teaching experience preferably in a primary education
field represented in the Academic Division. Three or more years of
experience in academic administration required; Or the equivalent
combination of experience and education.
- Supervisory Experience: Three to five years of direct
supervisory experience including responsibility for hiring, firing,
performance management, training and coaching is required.
- Language Ability: Ability to write reports and business
correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in group
settings and to respond to the public, colleagues, and students.
Excellent English listening and speaking skills are required.
Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and
administrators.
- Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as
discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area,
circumferences, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and
percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply
concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data,
establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret
an extensive variety of technical instructions in
